SUMMARY:A Whole Life
DESCRIPTION:A Whole Life\, based on the bestselling novel by Robert Seethaler\, follows Andreas Egger\, a humble labourer who\, in his twilight years\, reflects on his life spent in his isolated home-valley. As he navigates through the joys and hardships of life\, the film captures the profound transformation of his serene farming community.\nSet against the breath-taking backdrop of the Austrian Alps\, the film explores themes of nature\, progress\, and the emotional costs of change\, through stunning cinematography. It not only depicts a realistic portrayal of Egger’s personal journey but the broader impact of societal shifts\, as the world undergoes radical changes\, brought on by industrialization and modernization in the early 20th century. \nABOUT THE NOVEL\nFirst published in 2014\, A whole life by author Robert Seethaler is a literary masterpiece that has been translated into over 40 languages and was shortlisted for the International Booker Price in 2016. The novel has sold more than 1 million copies in Germany alone. Alongside its commercial success\, it has received critical acclaim from around the world and is perceived as a novel that runs counter to the restless nature of the 21st century. \nHans Steinbichler – 2023 – 108’ – Drama \nLanguage: German with English subtitles \nTrailer: here.
