SUMMARY:“The Sorrows of Young Werther”- Book Club
DESCRIPTION:“Anyone may know what I know\, but my heart is mine alone.” \nThe Turkish Cypriot German Cultural Association organises a book club for adults\, on the novel “The Sorrows of Young Werther”\, written by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe\, one of the most prominent authors of German literature. \nIn two engaging sessions\, literature teacher Dilgül Sakalli will introduce you the author as well as to the German literature and explore with you the content of the book. “The Sorrows of Young Werther” is based on Goethe’s life at the age of twenty-five and presents in a magnificent style the most meaningful definitions of a “hopeless love” and its consequences. Join us for this activity where you will have the opportunity to share your thoughts on the topics of life\, love\, fear\, pain and emotions. \n1. Session 1 / 5th November: 14:00-15:00 introduction into German literature and author\n2. Session 2 / 26th November: 14:00-15:00 analysis\, exchange of ideas\, creative activities \nThe book will be given to you as a gift. The workshop will take place in Turkish. Turkish literature teacher Dilgül Sakallı will moderate both sessions. SUMMARY:“MOMO” – Book Club Workshop
DESCRIPTION:“The time is the life itself; the place of life is in the heart.” \nThe Turkish Cypriot German Cultural Association organises a book club on Michel Ende’s fantastic novel “MOMO”\, for children and young people between the ages of 12 and 18. The book received the German Youth Literature Award\, was adapted to cinema numerous times as well as translated into more than forty languages and sold over 7 million copies worldwide. \nMOMO is a fairy tale for both children and adults\, full of imagination and fantasy. The book tells the story of a girl named Momo who lives alone in the theater ruins of a big city. She has nothing except for the things\, she finds around or the gifts\, she receives from others. However\, she has an extraordinary talent: Momo is a great listener and has plenty of time for that. One day\, the “smoke men” appear and make plan to steal the people’s time. The only person who can stop them is Momo – will she be able to defeat them alone? \nIn two sessions\, literature teacher Dilgül Sakallı\, will introduce you to German literature on children and youth and share with you information about the author Michael Ende. Based on the book\, you will talk about topics like friendships and listening to each other. \nThe book will be given as a gift to you. The event will take place in Turkish. DESCRIPTION:Ingo Harden attested the German-Japanese pianist Mario Häring a “technical perfection” with a simultaneous “serious intensity” of his playing. He performs worldwide in major concert halls such as the Elbphilharmonie\, the Wigmore Hall London or the Suntary Hall in Tokyo and has played with cellist Kian Soltani and oboist Christina Gómez Godoy\, among others. SUMMARY:“The Bremen Town Musicians” - Creative Drama Workshop for children
DESCRIPTION:The Turkish-Cypriot German Cultural Association is organising two theatre workshops for children aged 4-7 based on the fairy tale “The Bremen Town Musicians” by the Brothers Grimm. \nThe four characters in the fairy tale – a donkey\, a dog\, a cat and a rooster – leave their homes and set out on a journey together with the hope of a new life. They decide to go to Bremen and become musicians there. What will happen on their journey?  \nThese four animals\, which are among the first animals that children learn\, are animals they can perform easily as well as imitate their sounds. Through the workshop with Hatice Tezcan\, children will have an interesting and fun adventure and learn about the Brothers Grimm. \nWorkshops: 10:30-12:00 and 13:00-14:30\nLanguage: Turkish\nLocation: Büyük Han\, Hayalhane\, number 137 \nIn accordance with the current COVID-19 safety regulations\, between 8 and 10 students will be allowed to attend each session. DESCRIPTION:The Turkish Cypriot German Cultural Association is organising two shadow play workshops for children aged 7-11 based on the fairy tale “Hansel and Gretel”. \nDuring the workshop\, the characters and story telling will be performed by participants as a team work  with an improvisational form of adapting through screen. The participants will create a fictitious story; will animate the story characters by shadow puppets and as a group work\, they will enjoy by learning. \nShadow Play is acknowledged as the intangible cultural heritage by UNESCO.
