“The time is the life itself; the place of life is in the heart.”

The Turkish Cypriot German Cultural Association organises a book club on Michel Ende’s fantastic novel “MOMO”, for children and young people between the ages of 12 and 18. The book received the German Youth Literature Award, was adapted to cinema numerous times as well as translated into more than forty languages and sold over 7 million copies worldwide.

MOMO is a fairy tale for both children and adults, full of imagination and fantasy. The book tells the story of a girl named Momo who lives alone in the theater ruins of a big city. She has nothing except for the things, she finds around or the gifts, she receives from others. However, she has an extraordinary talent: Momo is a great listener and has plenty of time for that. One day, the “smoke men” appear and make plan to steal the people’s time. The only person who can stop them is Momo – will she be able to defeat them alone?

In two sessions, literature teacher Dilgül Sakallı, will introduce you to German literature on children and youth and share with you information about the author Michael Ende. Based on the book, you will talk about topics like friendships and listening to each other.

The book will be given as a gift to you. The event will take place in Turkish. Number of participants is limited to 15 people – secure your spot and register at ku-100@niko.diplo.de until 31st October.
