ABOUT US
The “Weeks of the German Language” is an annual cultural festival organised by the Embassies of Austria, Germany, and Switzerland, together with the Goethe-Institut Cyprus, under the patronage of the Ministry of Education, Sport and Youth. The festival showcases a diverse array of events related to the German language, literature, film, and culture of each participating country.
Now in its ninth edition, the festival celebrates the vibrant exchange between Cyprus and the German-speaking world. This year’s theme, “Stimmen & Geschichten” (“Voices & Stories”), highlights the power of language to connect people and share unique perspectives across cultures and generations.
German is the most widely spoken mother tongue in Europe, and the German-speaking countries are known for their excellence in education, innovation, and cultural creativity. By promoting the German language, we encourage multilingualism, diversity, and dialogue in Cyprus and strengthen the cultural bridges between Cyprus, Austria, Germany, and Switzerland.
