The "Weeks of the German Language"
The “Weeks of the German Language” is an annual cultural festival organised by the Embassies of Austria, Germany, and Switzerland, together with the Goethe-Institut Cyprus, under the patronage of the Ministry of Education, Sport and Youth. The event series showcases a diverse array of events celebrating the German language, literature, film, and culture of each participating country.
Now in its tenth edition, the festival celebrates the vibrant exchange between Cyprus and the German-speaking world.
German is the most widely spoken mother tongue in Europe, and the German-speaking countries are known for their excellence in education, innovation, and cultural creativity. By promoting the German language, we encourage multilingualism, diversity, and dialogue in Cyprus and strengthen the cultural bridges between Cyprus, Austria, Germany, and Switzerland.
The organisers
The “Weeks of the German Language” are jointly organised by the Embassies of Austria, Germany, and Switzerland, and the Goethe-Institut Cyprus, who work together to offer a rich and varied cultural programme open to everyone interested in the German language and culture.
The event series’ mission is to promote mutual understanding through language and culture, support education and exchange, and encourage people to discover new perspectives through the stories, voices, and creativity of the German-speaking world.
